DAM THE RIVER AND THEY WILL COME...
Actually the river was dammed to provide a source of water for Southern California
in the 1930's. Lucky for the rest of us is the resulting lake is a great place to
spend some time. Considering how rare any body of water is in the arid South
West, Lake Havasu is a very popular with locals and visitor alike. Weekends are
especially busy on the lake. On long weekends, the lake is packed with boats. Most
of the traffic on the lake is by speed boaters then personal watercraft [jetskis].
Pontoon boaters make up the minority. Seldom do we see sail boating on the lake.
During the summer months, most locals try to get on the lake during week days.
Lake Havasu has several marinas and launch facilities. It is not uncommon on 'federal'
weekends to see most of these facilities overwhelmed.
Alot of the boating traffic is close to Lake Havasu City. Some locations on
the Lake are known as 'party' spots. Most people are aware of Copper Canyon.
During summer holiday weekends - it was packed with people partying. The
activities there got a little out of hand. The Sheriff ended up placing
Deputies on site - to make sure that people did not have 'too good '
of a time
[for more information - place
the words 'Sex' and 'Lake Havasu' into a
Search Engine and see what you get].
