You are at the DETOUR page with alternative folds for some of the more difficult steps.  Return to the main page at any time by clicking the RED links.

This is a detour page with alternate
folds. Return to main page here.
  2.  Make a crease by folding from corner to corner. Unfold.   3.  Fold right edge to left and unfold, then make horizontal crease by folding top to bottom.   4.  Mountain fold corner-to-corner. (Fold the corners back so the blue side of corner b touches the blue side of corner c.  Crease and unfold.

5.  Bring corners "b" to "c" together, while pushing "a" & "d" inside. The paper should form a diamond shape as shown. Flatten.  Return to step 8 on main page or continue here.   6. Fold edge and point "e" and then point "f" to center using a "paper airplane fold." Crease the top as shown.
Unfold all.
  7.  Open paper enough to tuck point
"e" inside  at the crease.  Repeat with point "f."  Turn paper over.
  8.  Crease "g" and "h," as shown in step 6, then open paper enough to tuck these points inside as shown in
step 7.

9.  Fold  bottom corner "b" up
as far as it will go.
  10.  Notice that points "e" and "f" now make the  the center intersection line.   11.  Turn the paper over and fold point "c" up.  Note that corners "b" & "c" are
face-to-face while "a" & "d" are edge-to edge.
This shape is  called a "bird base."
