Here's your one minute tour of Hoover Dam. I'm not a tour guide so here goes...
Hoover Dam contains 17 Generators, eight of which are on the 'Nevada' side.
The other nine Generators are on the 'Arizona' side. Total output if all units
are 'on-line' is +2000 Mega Watts. We never see all the units on-line at any given
time. The amount of generation is determined by the available water flow in the
Colorado River. In a dry year - less generation. In a wet year - more. Still alot of Power.
The power is routed to distribution yards in Boulder City. Most people assume
that the power is used in Las Vegas. This is not the case. Most of the power is
sent to Southern California.
