Working on the Colorado River
River Gauge on the Colorado River
Communication Site above Lake Havasu
When I'm not at one of the Dams or in my Shop - I can be found out in the field anywhere the Bureau of Reclamation has Electronic Equipment to support. The majority of the remote sites that I visit are Gauging Sites on the River or hilltop Comm sites. What is 'high tech' here? Modern gauging sites contain computer based data collection systems, electronic sensors, communication equipment and solar power systems. The gauges may look low tech - but they're not.

Data collected from these remote sites is broadcast to hilltop commumications sites using UHF Data Radios. Information can be collected 'on demand' and sent to Hoover Dam where the data is used to manage water resources.
