The Weiss Building was built in 1929. Formerly known as the Hills Building, it was once a furniture showroom and warehouse.  As part of the Wharf District revitalization plan it was purchased by Glenmark Holdings, LLC in 1999.  The building  was gutted and renovated from the ground up in 2001.  In 2002 The West Virginia Development Office awarded Glenmark “Best Interior Rehabilitation” for their work on the Weiss Building.   As a fully modernized commercial office building, it has all new high-speed data lines, plumbing  and mechanical systems,  a new passenger elevator and all units are ADA compliant.  The present owners bought the building in 2004.

The Wharf District runs along the Monongahela River and is a mixture of restored historic buildings and new development including the Waterfront Hotel, the WV Performing Theater, the Jackson Kelly office building and the new Monongahela River Center Marina.  New parking garages at either end of the District provide parking for over 700 vehicles.
