My Hobbies:
To be perfectly honest, most of my interests revolve around the Computer. If there is such a thing as a computer junkie, I am one. My interest in Computers goes back to the early 80's. My first computer was a Commodore VIC-20. After that I bought a Commodore 64 and I really thought than that it was the be all and end all of computers. I than went to a Packard Bell and after that to a machine put together by a computer savvy friend. I am currently running a Dell Dimension 4600-C. The thought of where this technology is going totally fascinates me and I try keeping up on all the advances that I can time permitting. I know that I spend way too much time in front of a computer screen but I just cant help myself. I probably know more about the computer than the average person but there is so much to understand about this technology that it is like a grain of sand on the beach.
Before I retired in 2004, I had a list of things that I wanted to accomplish early in retirement:
1. Transfer my old VHS tapes to DVD. 2. Remodel my web site. 3. Start the McLaughlin Genealogy. 4. Volunteer at a local Soup Kitchen. 5. Apply for substitute teaching in local schools. 6. Secure a part-time job. 7. Work as a Pre-Retirement Consultant about Prior Service 8. Learn more about Wok cooking
I have done all of the above.
I have had an ongoing interest in the Paranormal ever since High School. Conspiracy theories have been an interest to me and I find some of them very intriguing.
Even before I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes in 2001, I had an interest in nutrition and supplements. I usually spend about an hour a day reading books, magazines and Web sites about health and nutrition.
I spend a few hours a week reading about new patents on the US Patent Offices web site. I am really excited about some of the new patents coming out with respect to computers, non-invasive glucose monitoring, electronics and smart appliances.
I love watching science fiction movies and action films.
I have been reconnecting to many people I have known in the past, including someone I was friends with over 50 years ago and cousins I have not seen for over 40 years.
I have been looking into the possibility of using our condo on Hilton Head as an Exchange home for places in Europe, Scandinavia et. al.
