Charles Karboski, 82, of Roaring Brook Twp., died Saturday at Geisinger Community Medical Center after a brief illness. He and his wife, the former Margaret Sury, were married for 57 years.


Born in Scranton, son of the late Charles and Sophia Kowalski Karboski, he was a graduate of West Scranton High School and Keystone College. A Navy veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of St. Stanislaus Polish National Catholic Cathedral, American Legion Post 604 and Moosic Sportsman Club. He was employed as an electrical engineer at Link Aviation in Binghamton, N.Y., before retirement.


Charles was a man who loved helping his neighbors, always being there to fix things. An avid hunter and fisherman, he loved his family and grandchildren.


Also surviving are a son, Charles J. Karboski and wife, Rhonda, Beaver Meadows; two daughters, Karen H. Wyotanis and husband, Paul, Scranton; and Charlene F. Krall and husband James, Moscow; three grandchildren, James Charles and Sophia Margaret Krall and Charles Karboski; two brothers, Daniel Karboski and wife, Joan, Chinchilla; and Ronald Karboski and wife, Roslyn, Elmhurst; two sisters, Gloria Pentridge, Lawrenceville, Ga.; and Joan Ferguson and husband, Ronald, Florida; nieces and nephews.


He was also preceded in death by a son, C.J.


The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Leon S. Gorgol Funeral Home, 1131 Pittston Ave., Scranton, with Mass at 10 in St. Stanislaus Polish National Catholic Cathedral. Interment, parish cemetery.


Friends and family may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
