Who's For Dinner?

The next couple of years, I was prevented from doing my own haunt by first a huge snow storm (nobody came trick or treating that year), then by being recruited to help with someone else's haunt.

When I did my own again, I was pregnant and needed another simple one-room haunt. This time, I chose a classical, haunted dining room theme.

The table was set with my best china, then I added some dark red candles and lots of spider webs.

On the wall, I hung a scary glow-in-the-dark portrait I bought online somewhere, but it was too scary for my then-2 year old daughter, so I took it down when she got back from her own trick-or-treating.

I dressed up in black-- a-la vampiress-- and greeted guests, telling them they were just in time for dinner. As I brought them in I showed them the table and offered them a homemade doughnut. Most kids were a little suspicious of this, but eventually took one.

(I should mention that we live in a very small town, so everyone trick-or-treating at our house was well-known to us. You probably couldn't use homemade doughnuts as a goodie in a big city with lots of strangers.)
