BASIC MOVEMENTS
1. There are three levels of focus for the punch: high, middle, and low.
2. High is just below the nose. Middle is the solar plexus. Low is belt level or below.
3. The punch starts at the side of the chest with the palm facing up.
4. The fist is tight and the wrist is straight.
5. As the punch develops the wrist will turn so that the palm is facing down.
6. The elbow of the punching arm will slightly rub the side of the body.
7. The elbow remains slightly bent at the completion of the punch.
8. The two inside knuckles make contact with the target.
9. The shoulder is NOT to be pulled forward with the punching action.
1. This block can be done from any stance, but usually accompanies the Zen-Kusta-Dachi.
2. The blocking arm crosses in front of the body to the ear opposite of the side being blocked.
3. The blocking arm is slightly bent.
4. The block ends with a popping action.
5. The blocking arm remains one fist width away from the body during the entire technique.
