BASIC MOVEMENTS
1. Body weight is distributed 50% on each leg.
2. This is a side fighting stance. It is 75% defense and 25% offense.
3. Legs are shoulder width apart with knees bowed to strengthen the stance.
4. The knees are bent to allow slight viewing of the toes.
5. The feet are pointed straight forward.
6. The hips are tucked in to be in line with the heels.
1. Body weight is distributed 60% on the front leg and 40% on the back leg.
2. This is a front fighting stance. It is 50% offense and 50% defense.
3. The knee of the front leg is straight above the ankle.
4. The front foot is pointed straight forward.
5. The back foot is turned at a 30 to 40 degree angle.
6. The back leg is locked straight at the knee.
Side Squat Stance Hachi-Ji-Dachi
Forward Leg Block Stance Zen-Kustu-Dachi
Cat Foot Stance Neko-Ashi-Dachi
1. Body weight is distributed 90% on the back leg and 10% on the front leg.
2. This is a front fighting stance. It is 75% offense and 25% defense.
3. The back leg is in a crouched position.
4. The back foot is at a slight angle in order to support the body weight.
5. The front knee is bent with only the ball of the foot touching the floor.
6. The front foot is approximately 1 1/2 to 2 foot lengths from the ball of the back foot.
7. This stance is most often accompanied with a Shuto-Uki.
